Photography Angle Tips

Photography angle tips

Learning how to use different camera angles in your photos is one way to add interest and variety to your photographs. Exploiting different angles is not something stressful. It is just a matter of either moving up or down to change the angle of the photo. It doesn’t matter what is the type of camera you are using. Changing shooting angles can help to bring in new perspectives. Here are the five photography angle tips to improve your photos.

1.    Bird’s eye view – The first of such angles is the “bird’s eye view”. This is the highest camera angle in photography. This is where you go so high above the scene and then look down to take a shot. This is a perfect angle to capture all the important details. This is an unusual angle that is not commonly used. Whenever you have to leap so high above the scene to take a photo, it tends to bring an interesting angle to the photo. You can use this angle at a playground. Wait for the children to climb, then, you go high and look down at them to capture the shot.

2.    High angle – This is an angle that is not as high as the “bird’s eye view”. This makes it the second-highest height. It is just about getting a bit higher than the scene or the person you are trying to photograph. This angle may improve your photo creativity since it helps to make your subject look smaller.

3.    Face-to-face – This angle is at the eye level of the subject. This is usually the best angle if you are taking the photo of a child. This is a very engaging angle to make a perfect connection with the subject. This angle is also most suited for portrait even though portrait angle is a little bit higher than the eye level.

4.    Low angle – This is an angle where you have to go down below the eye level. Going lower makes the subject look bigger in the photo. This is how to make some photos look so scary. A low angle shot is needed when you are taking the photo of a crocodile. This is the best way to capture the teeth which a scary feature in a crocodile.

5.    Bug’s eye view – This photo angle is also known as the “worm’s eye view”. This is an angle where you have to go down as low as you can and look up to capture the subject. This is another unusual angle like the bird’s eye view. It is an angle that is rarely used. It gives your photo an interesting perspective too.

Conclusion
These photography tips will help you to improve your photography skills. It won’t be out of place if you use a variety of angles each time you take these shots. It makes you a creative photographer. Creating more camera angles make the photos exciting. Put it into practice and get better at it. It will help you become a professional photographer.

Photography Composition for Beginners

Photography Composition for Beginners

Photography Composition for Beginners

The composition is all about the creativity that goes into photography. This is where it matters most. You may understand everything about Exposure Triangle, Shooting RAW images in Manual Mode and all of that. But an important aspect of photography would still be missing. This is why some photos don’t look compelling like others. What is actually missing is light and composition. We had discussed the power of light in our last article. Now, let us discuss composition.

What is composition?

Composition of an image is the way the different subjects within a frame are combined to make the final image. Our composition can be altered by zoom in and out, by moving around, etc. When it comes to composition, the possibility is endless. Even the last tweak in a photo can make a major difference. Composition in simple terms is the creative side of photography. Here are the 5 tips about composition.

1.    Eye movement The movement of the eye is the first thing a photographer should pay attention to before taking the shot. How will the viewer of the photograph react? This is a question the photographer should be able to answer. What is needed is for the eye to flow naturally with the photo. If the viewer’s eye is drawn outside of the frame, then, there is a problem with the photo. There are different techniques to employ to solve this. Look out for distractions that take away the attention from the main focus. Find a way to remove the distractions from the image.

2.    Rule of thirdsYou can never take away the “rule of thirds” in photography. Photography is well-rooted in it. While you don’t have to abide by the rule 100%, substantial compliance will definitely improve your work. The rule is about divide frame into 9 equal. so that there would be an overlay on the grid. The most important part of the image would have to be placed at the gridlines ensuring any lines within the image follows the gridlines.

3.    Border patrolThis is about looking through and around the edges of the frame in all the photographs ensuring there are no unwanted subjects disrupting from the borders. This means tree branches, an arm showing up inappropriately and half of a dog’s body in the photo are all unwanted parts causing distractions and need to be removed. These distractions draw the eye of the viewer and leaving the frame.

4.    Leading lines This is an important rule just like rule No. 1. Looking out for lines in the photo that draws the eye of the viewer into the scene instead of drawing the eye of the viewer away from it. This could be physical lines such as fences, walls or shadows.

5.    Rule of odd numbers Many people feel comfortable with odd numbers in a photo. They prefer a photo of three persons instead of four or five persons instead of six. But this rule cannot work in all cases. For example, you cannot apply this rule in a wedding photo.

Conclusion

Applying the photography composition would no doubt improve your ability to take great photographs. These are great “rules” that would take you to the next level if properly applied.

How photography defined the Great Depression

How photography defined the Great Depression

How photography defined the Great Depression

Photographers played a great role in chronicling the 1930 Great Depression. It was a time to show the world what the farm labourers and migrants were going through from the camera lens and great photographers came to the rescue.

What is the Great Depression?

The Great Depression was an era of severe economic depression in the 1930s. It all started from the United States of America and soon spread across the world. It started in 1929 and ended in late 1930.

Roles photographers played

The roles photographers played during the Great Depression are still very much memorable. The photographers didn’t just go out of their ways to do this. The involvement of the photographers was initiated by the government. President Franklin Roosevelt made a great effort to relieve the serious economic situation during that period. He rolled out an economic program called the New Deal. In order to make the program effective, the government employed top photographers to properly document the hardship the people were facing by documenting their sufferings through the camera lens. The efforts of these photographers produced some iconic photos of the Great Depression in the history of America. There was a Resettlement Administration created to build relief camps and also give loans and provide relocation assistance to farmers who were greatly affected by the Depression. This was all part of the New Deal. The Resettlement Administration was later replaced with the Farm Security Administration (FSA).

A former advisor to Roosevelt, Rex Tugwell, was charged with the responsibility of heading the department. Rex hired a Columbia University professor Roy Stryker as the Chief of the Historical Section. Stryker was responsible for the agency’s photographic documentation.

Stryker’s job was to document the photographs of government assistance to the affected people. He is to ensure that the rural farmers and migrants looking for work were photographed.
Stryker went in search of great documentary photographers. The emotion of the suffering people was well captured so as to bring empathy to their plight.

Stryker went on to engage Arthur Rothstein. Rothstein made a great contribution by capturing Fleeing a Dust Storm. This was a photo of an Oklahoma homesteader and his two sons walking through the dust.

Dorothea Lange was also part of the team of photographers. Lange, a New Jersey-born photographer captured vividly the poverty-ridden families in different camps. She was well known for the photos of a 32-year-old mother, Florence Leona Christie, living in a camp of dejected pea pickers. One of her photographs was titled: The Migrant Mother. This eventually became the hallmark of the Great Depression. The photo elicited a lot of actions. There was an immediate emergency food delivery to the pea pickers’ camp.
The Great Depression is an event that would never be forgotten in the history of America. The poverty was really avoidable but it became a catastrophic situation. It was really terrifying. The world came to its knees. The efforts of these American photographers were applauded by many.

Photography rules of composition

Photography rules of composition

Photography rules of composition

Photography composition has been an important part of photography over the years. As a professional photographer, understanding it will greatly improve your work. Here are the photography rules of composition you have to master to improve your photography skills. Let’s start by defining what photography composition is.

photography composition

What is photography composition?

Photography composition relates to the way the different elements in a scene are arranged within a frame. This composition is a critical aspect of photography.  Composition rules or guidelines have been used for many years to produce timeless photographs. Here are the 5 rules of photography composition.

1.    Fill the frame – If your shot would lose impact because of busy backgrounds or surroundings, it is better to eliminate such disturbances or crop it out. This will allow you to focus on the main point of focus. The technique works perfectly especially for portraits when you are capturing intimate photos and you have very busy backgrounds trying to obstruct your shot. Filling the frame involves capturing the shot from the waist up or filling the frame by just capturing the face in order to have a better impact.

2.    Don’t cut off any part in a photo – When you are behind the camera, ensure that you keep your eye on the edges of the frame in order to fully capture your shot. This is to ensure that no part of the shot is cut off. Cutting off the cat’s ear or the tail of a dog or part of the human head will negatively impact the shot.

3.    Use the “rule of thirds” – The “rule of thirds” is an important rule in photography. The rule is to separate your shots into nine sections using a set of vertical and horizontal lines. Place the important elements in the shot on one of the lines or where there is an intersection. This is a great rule that can be applied when taking a shot of a landscape.

4.    Use frames – The frames have different uses when it relates to composition. The frame can help to isolate your object, give an image depth or draw the eye directly to it. Frames can come in the form of bridges, fences, tree branches, human face or arm.

5.    Watch the background carefully – Carefully watch the background when taking a shot. Always focus on the important subject. Too much-colored background can affect your shot. If you are working on a portrait, ensure there are no unwanted items disrupting your shot. One way to eliminate unwanted background is to select a wider aperture if you are making use of DSLR or select the Portrait Mode if you are making use of a compact camera. If you are taking the shot of plants and flowers, it makes sense to use one of the backgrounds in the camera to replace the unwanted background in the scene.

Conclusion

The photography rules of composition are great rules beginners must understand if they want to become professionals. There is no doubt these rules will help them to improve their skills in no small ways.

Photography Or The Writing Of Light

Photography Or The Writing Of Light

Photography or the writing of light

In this era of smartphones, there are many who believe photography is all about quick shots with their phones. Amateur photographers will concentrate on mega-pixel as if that is what makes photography what it is. Nothing can be farther from the truth. These are all wrong notions. Let’s go to the fundamentals in order to understand what photography is.

What is photography?

Two words make up the word photography – photo and graphy. Photo literally means “light” while graphy means “writing”. From this little explanation, you would understand that photography is about writing with light. It means a graphologist is simply a handwriting analyst. So, the point here is about the use of light. Light is at the core of photography. You can’t take away light from photography and say you are practising photography.

There is no doubt resolution in the form of mega-pixel is going to play an important role in the quality of the photo but there would be a visible huge difference when large prints are made.  Also, the zoom is an important aspect in photography but that does not mean that a camera without a zoom cannot take a good shot.

Another aspect is the “photoshopping” of pictures.  The use of software cannot replace the fundamentals of photography. Photoshop cannot fix all the issues in a photograph. Great photographs are made by great photographers; and not by great desktop publishers. Photoshop cannot take care of the inappropriate color temperature. No software can take the place of light in photography. Make efforts to invest in lights. It must not be expensive studio lights. You can invest in a quality flash. Remember that the best form of light is the natural light – sun. A little bit of sunlight will make a great difference in your shots. Avoid the use of fluorescent light. It will only make the pictures to look very unreal. Whether you are using a digital camera, an Android or iPhone, try to make use of the flash.

Useful light writing tips

•    Always try to use brighter lights for farther away shots. Use dimmer lights when very close. You can create more precise patterns or designs when you have a tight beam.

It is tricky to turn the light on and off. Sometimes, you may have to use your hand to block the light

If you don’t want to be seen writing, it is advised that you wear a black cloth

Always write over water or anything that has reflective surfaces in order to create fascinating reflections

Always try to write over darker parts of the background so as to have the best contrast.

•    Remember that whatever you draw appear backwards. So, it makes sense to either write backwards or just flip the photograph horizontally.

Conclusion

Light is everything in photography. You cannot take away the place of light in photography. Lights are at the core of photography. Using lights properly is a great skill that will improve a photographer’s work.

Gym For Healthy Lifestyle | Real Man Must Be Strong!

gym, build muscles, healthy lifestyle, healthy diet, man should be strong
Dear Diary,
Today is my first day at the gym, I do this because I want to have a healthy lifestyle and being thin and weak is not good for a real man so I thought that I need to change my daily lifestyle.
As you know a real man should be strong, tough and confident in himself. Therefore, having at the gym is the answer to achieve those objectives. But of course, I must also have a healthy diet and sleep at the right time.
Yeah, That's right we must love our body and health as well coz if we abuse it. Someday, our body will take charge of what we've done in the past.  Anyways, building muscles is not easy it needs a lot of :
  • Hard work
  • Patience
  • Endurance
  • Focus
  • Time
Wish me luck to overcome all of these trials and muscle pain.

Love,

Leumas Erilad

Landscape Photography Tips | Boulevard Pagadian City

There's a lot of  style in photography and 1 of them is Landscape Photography. If you don't know what it is. Landscape photography is a kind of photography that usually take or capture the presence of  nature but it  can also apply on man-made features and disturbances of landscape.

Landscape Photography Tips # 1
  • In landscape photography, we must  use the sense of depth. what does it mean's we must make sure that your foreground, background and all kinds of elements is in focus and sharp. By doing this  we  must have a small aperture by setting it from  f/16- f/22.  But on this aperture setting, we  have small light coming in down into our camera. Therefore, we must have a tripod to eliminate the hand shaking.
Landscape Photography Tips # 2
  • I believe that the best camera in the world is the one what you have. But practicing on that camera and study the limit and the capability of your camera  is the key. Anyways, when you determine the capability of your camera then you will realize that you must upgrade your lenses.  In landscape photography it is so much recommended that  we must use a wide-angle lens because in this lens they can capture a broader view and give a sense of  wide open space. And it is also can give a better depth of  field and  more light  is coming in  into your camera. Therefore, you are allowed to set a fast  shutter speed with  settings of f/16  your foreground and background will definitely on sharp and focus.
Landscape Photography Tips # 3
  • My third tips on Landscape Photography is use a filter on our wide lens such as ND Filters and Polorizing Filters. Because sometimes when we  want to capture a picture  and the lighting is not good for example  bright days  and we want to filter the too much light entering on our lens, then ND filter will help you to prevent the light. And if you want to  enhance the blue sky and contrast the white sky. You use  polorizing filter on that case. Because Polorizing filter will help to darken the blue sky.
Landscape Photography Tips # 4
  • The forth tips is the rule of third. If you didn't know what the rule of third is? It is an imaginary 2 vertical and 2 horizontal line,  as shown image below.  The rule of third technique is very important for composition on your shot because it is more pleasing in the eyes.
  • The idea on the rule of third is very simple. you must  use those 4 intersecting lines, and place your subject on that area.

 Landscape Photography Tips # 5
  • My 5th tips on landscape photography is, I am using  water reflection on my subject as a focal point to give my photograph more interesting. We can do this on  "golden hours" such as the first hours before sunrise and last hour before sunset.
